In a resounding victory, today the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled in favor of abortion providers. In Allegheny Reproductive Health Center vs. PA Department of Human Services, the Supreme Court ruled that abortion providers in the state could challenge the current ban on Medicaid coverage of abortion care. Currently, Pennsylvania's Abortion Control Act bans Medicaid funds from being used for abortion care.

With today's ruling, the PA Supreme Court has taken a step towards a truth that we have always known: a person’s ability to pay should have no bearing on their ability to access health care.

We are celebrating today's ruling because it brings us one step closer to reproductive freedom. We at Planned Parenthood Keystone have always stood for economic justice because we know that the ability to pay has long been a huge barrier to care.

In the days to come, more information about the ruling will be shared as the legal analysis is completed. In the meantime, we will do what we always do - provide care, no matter what.
