PPSO offers trainings, programs, and resources for parents and families looking to have honest and healthy conversations about sexuality. Our goal is to develop a network of ‘askable’ adults who are informed, trusted resources for young people, and who are prepared and available to support them in their sexual health.

Planned Parenthood Health Educators

Websites 

  • Advocates for Youth provides parents with the resources and curricula they need to have age-appropriate, inclusive conversations with the young people in their life on issues of sexuality, social justice, and more. 

  • Love is Respect is a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the ultimate resource to empower youth to prevent and end dating abuse. They provide information, resources, and support to parents and caregivers looking to start conversations about dating violence and support the young people they care about through potentially difficult or frightening situations.  

  • PFLAG (Parents, Families, Friends and Allies United with LGBT People) is the first and largest organization that unites parents, families, and allies with LGBTQ+ people. They have a variety of resources, as well as local chapters that parents and caregivers can join to get even more involved.  

  • Accord Alliance promotes comprehensive and integrated approaches to care that enhance the health and wellbeing of intersex people and their families. They have numerous resources and guides to educate parents and caregivers and provide support when needed. They also provide vital partnerships and connect families with inclusive health specialists, clinicians, support groups, and more.  

  • RAINN is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline in partnership with local sexual assault service providers across the country. They provide parent support and resources to help start conversations about sexual violence prevention and safety, and to give children and young people the tools to speak up when something isn’t right.  

  • The Trevor Project, an organization focused on suicide prevention efforts among LGBTQ+ youth, offers some answers to frequently asked questions and resources for parents and caregivers.
