If you have insurance, please bring your photo ID, insurance card, and specialist copay due at the time of service. If you are not the primary policy holder, please bring the full name, address, and date of birth of the person who is.

If you are seeking hormone therapy services with us and you have a current prescription for hormone therapy with another provider, please bring your records with you if possible, including any recent lab work or blood work you had previously had.

Many of our services are offered on a sliding fee scale based on your income and household size. If you do not qualify for funding or if you are not using insurance, payment will be due at the time of service. More information on Fees and Services can be found here.

Any children must be accompanied by another adult at all times in the waiting area as children are not allowed in exam rooms and cannot be left unaccompanied.

Birth Control Visit (Pill/Patch/Ring/Depo)

A visit to start Birth Control, such as the Pill, Depo Shot, Ring, or Patch, includes recommended STD screening and a pregnancy test. For more information on these methods, please click the links above.

Preventive Visit

This visit includes a routine Pap test and/or breast cancer screening if it is medically indicated. You can learn more about Pap tests and cervical cancer screenings by clicking here. You can also get birth control at this visit, as well as basic STD screening.

For best Pap results, do not douche or place anything in the vagina 24 hours before the appointment. If you use the Nuvaring, you can continue using this as normal.

If you have your menstrual cycle, please reschedule your appointment for another time.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible.

Implant Placement

If you are not using hormonal birth control, you should abstain from vaginal intercourse for 21 days prior to your appointment. If you are using hormonal birth control, please continue taking it normally.

Intrauterine Contraception: Mirena, Liletta, or Paragard (also known as IUC or IUD)

If you are not using hormonal birth control, you must abstain from vaginal intercourse for 21 days prior to your appointment. If you are using hormonal birth control, please continue taking it normally.

The Paragard can be placed up to 5 days after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy, but recent acts of unprotected sex over 5 days may make you ineligible for placement. Please call the health center if you have any questions.

Please eat something and take 800mg of ibuprofen one hour prior to your appointment. Do not take any aspirin or products with aspirin.

Morning After Pill (Emergency Contraception)

Emergency Contraception can be provided up to 5 days after unprotected sex. Learn more about it by clicking here. You will be required to provide a urine sample at your visit.

Pregnancy Test

Pregnancy tests are most accurate 3 weeks after you've had sex. Taking a test earlier than this may give inaccurate results.

Hormone Therapy for Transgender and Nonbinary Individuals

A visit to start or continue hormone therapy. Includes an introduction to our clinical care team, comprehensive medical and social history, a discussion of what to expect from your therapy of choice, and initial labwork. Most patients are prescribed hormone therapy during their initial visit; your care provider will discuss what is right for you. If you are eligible for other services, such as birth control, emergency contraception, or STD screening, this can be included in your initial or follow up visits.

If you are capable of becoming pregnant, we encourage you to abstain from vaginal intercourse for 21 days prior to your appointment. If you are using hormonal birth control, please continue taking it normally.

PrEP

Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medications are daily medications prescribed to help reduce an individual's risk of contracting HIV. Visits to begin or continue PrEP include comprehensive STD screening, including a rapid test for HIV, as well as a thorough medical history. 

For the most accurate urine testing, please do not urinate for one hour prior to your visit. 

STD Testing

We will screen you for the most common STDs based on the Center for Disease Detection (CDD) recommendations, including, but not limited to: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Syphilis and HIV. A urine or vaginal swab test for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea should be done two weeks after possible exposure. Blood testing for Syphilis should be done 30 days after possible exposure, and blood testing for HIV should be done 90 days after possible exposure. We also offer rapid HIV testing, which is done through a finger prick. Screening for other infections may be offered depending on your risk factors.

For most accurate urine testing, please do not urinate for one hour before your visit. 

Infection Check or Problem Visit

If you are having symptoms, do not douche or place anything in your vagina (creams, tampons, douching, intercourse) for 24 hours prior to the appointment.
