What We’ve Been Up To

New Pain Control Options at PPCWNY

We’re excited to share the work Health Services has done to increase options for pain control during intrauterine device (IUD) insertion! Clinicians are now trained to perform local anesthesia to facilitate IUD placement. And patients with a history of difficult intrauterine contraceptive insertion can also schedule appointments for insertion with the aid of nitrous oxide.

We are so appreciative of our entire Health Services team for consistently finding creative new ways to provide comprehensive, patient-centered, trauma-informed care, no matter what.

In Control’s “Flash & Fashion Experience”

On April 28, In Control hosted “The Flash & Fashion Experience,” a fashion and photography showcase featuring works from the next generation of emerging designers and photographers. In Control’s Davanique C. (Health Education & Outreach Supervisor) and Pamela B. (Outreach & Education Specialist) provided guidance and instruction alongside a professional photographer and fashion designer, but the event itself was completely teen-led. From event conceptualization, to the photographs and fashion designs, to the modeling and casting of additional models, In Control youth participants were at the helm of this one-of-a-kind event.

Congratulations to Davanique, Pam, the entire In Control staff, the designers, photographers, models, organizers, and everyone who helped make “The Flash & Fashion Experience” a success!

Miss Gay Finger Lakes Pageant

We had a great time tabling at the Miss Gay Finger Lakes Pageant in Geneva on May 5! Meredith O. (Manager of Public & Community Affairs) and Rachel M. (Executive Assistant to the CEO) distributed safer sex kits, educational materials, and of course, tons of PPCWNY buttons. Pageant categories included Creative Swimsuit, Evening Gown, Talent, and On Stage Answer.
