Give Intentionally to Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio on #GivingTuesday
For Immediate Release: Nov. 28, 2017
COLUMBUS, OH — #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. One of the best ways to get involved is to support your local community, and organizations that help individuals live healthy, happy lives.
For over a century, Planned Parenthood has stood and fought for the rights of women to control their bodies, choose if and when to have families, and decide their own futures. It’s who we are, because every patient and every day matters. Last year, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio helped over 63,000 individuals get the health care they need and deserve.
Statement from Sue Melnyk, PPGOH Vice President of Development:
“Our donors help keep our doors open. I am continually inspired by their generosity and kindness towards patients they may never meet. #GivingTuesday is a wonderful opportunity for individuals to help support Planned Parenthood, our patients, and the health and education services we provide, no matter what. Thank you to everyone who supports Planned Parenthood.”
Last year, PPGOH’s Education and Outreach Department reached over 37,000 Ohioans. Across the Planned Parenthood Federation, Ohio educated the largest percentage of young people of any affiliate – educating 17% of Ohioans aged 12 to 17. Planned Parenthood’s Education and Outreach Department offers the fact-based, medically accurate sex education programs our communities need to stay safe.
Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio operates 19 health centers, and offers services including birth control counseling, vital cancer screenings, well-woman exams, and sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment. PPGOH offers services regardless of a patient’s economic level, race, gender, sexual orientation, and/or immigration status.
