Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio Celebrates LGBTQ Pride Month Affirming Love Has No Gender
For Immediate Release: June 12, 2018
COLUMBUS, OH — Planned Parenthood believes that LGBTQ rights and reproductive rights are deeply connected to justice for all and has long stood with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in the fight for full equality — many of whom turn to Planned Parenthood for health care, information, and education. This Pride Month, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is proud to reaffirm their commitment to the rights and health of LGBTQ people.
This June, and every month, Planned Parenthood takes pride in providing high-quality, compassionate health care for LGBTQ people in communities across Ohio; understanding that their identities cross intersections of race, religion, class, ethnicity, disability, and immigration status. At Planned Parenthood, our doors are open to everyone who needs access to health care in a safe and welcoming environment.
Statement from Nicole Evans, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio Chief Marketing and Communications Officer:
“At Planned Parenthood, we realize that our incredible patients and supporters don't comprise any one identity, and we're grateful for the many volunteers, staff, and supporters of all genders and identities who work every day to ensure that people in communities across the country and the globe get the health care and information they need.”
In this difficult political climate, resistance can take many forms: Taking care of your health and your body in the face of discrimination — and working to ensure that others can do the same — is a form of resistance. Planned Parenthood believes that all people deserve affordable health care and compassionate, nonjudgmental sexuality health information. It is vital for patients to have health care that affirms their identity, their family, and their sexuality — as well as the ability and resources to make their own health care decisions with dignity.
This Pride season, Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio will be at the following locations to join in the celebration:
June 15 and 16 – Columbus
July 21 – Youngstown
August 4 – Mansfield
August 18 – Toledo
*Planned Parenthood already attended Pride events in Cleveland and Newark, Ohio.
