PPHP Announces Appointment of Director, Education & Training

(Hawthorne, NY) – Carol Lemus, Director, Education and Training, joined Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic (PPHP) in February 2011.
In this role, Ms. Lemus oversees agency-wide education and training initiatives, evaluates their effectiveness and assesses community needs for sexuality and reproductive health programs, while serving as a member of the Leadership Team.
Ms. Lemus joins PPHP with many years of experience in such areas as program development, needs assessment and evaluation, evidence-based interventions, training, grant writing, curriculum development and administrative oversight. Ms. Lemus served as the Executive Director of New York Harm Reduction Educators, Inc., and most recently was a consultant for the Interamerican Drug Abuse Control Commission of the Organization of American States, where she developed the first-ever national-level training manual in Spanish for the process of certification of professionals in the area of drug and alcohol addiction. She has trained professionals throughout Central and South America, and lived and worked for ten years in El
Salvador.
Ms. Lemus holds an MPH from New York University and a BA from Bryn Mawr College. She is a member of the American Public Health Association.
