INDIANAPOLIS – In a celebration of former Indiana Governor and current Vice President Mike Pence’s birthday, impersonator Mike Hot-Pence raised over $1,500 for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Indiana and Kentucky (PPAIK) on Wednesday afternoon. PPAIK and Hot-Pence hosted an event on Monument Circle where participants enjoyed cupcakes, posed with Hot-Pence for photos, and expressed their support for Planned Parenthood in the Hoosier state.
Mike Hot-Pence is a Mike Pence impersonator who spends his free time collecting donations for important causes such as LGBT rights, the environment, refugee support, and women's rights. He first dressed up as then-Gov. Pence for Halloween in 2016, and then began collecting donations in Times Square as Mike Hot-Pence after the election. In May, Hot-Pence announced that he had raised over $15,000 for various charities since beginning the project.
“Planned Parenthood is under attack, and on Mike Pence’s birthday our present to him is a strong showing of support for health care and for Planned Parenthood,” said Wanda Savala, Public Affairs Manager at PPAIK.
