Planned Parenthood to Open New Center in Milford, MA
For Immediate Release: Jan. 30, 2014
BOSTON— Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) is opening a new health center in Milford at 288 Main Street on Wednesday, June 9, 2010.
This health center will offer comprehensive family planning services including gynecological services, annual exams, birth control, as well as testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). PPLM has been providing sexual health services in the Worcester area since 1982. The organization celebrated the opening of a new health center in Marlborough at 91 Main Street last month. A third center will open in Fitchburg this summer.
“We want to be a part of the public health solution in Central Massachusetts,” said Dianne Luby, President/CEO of PPLM. “We look forward to working with our new neighbors to address issues like teen pregnancy, high STD rates, and women looking for gynecological services in a convenient, local area. Planned Parenthood’s services will be available to everyone regardless of the ability to pay.”
PPLM received a two-year $1.5 million federal Title X grant in December 2009 to open the new health centers. Title X is the federal government’s family planning grants program that provides access to contraceptive services, supplies, and information to those most in need, particularly low-income women. Services include affordable contraceptive methods, Pap tests, breast exams, and testing for STDs. These health centers accept all insurances and offer a sliding fee scale dependent on income. PPLM spokespeople are available for tours, additional background, and interviews.
