Increase in Title X Funding in Nebraska to Help Patients Access Care
For Immediate Release: July 30, 2024
Omaha, NE— Planned Parenthood North Central States (PPNCS) has received $145,980 in federal Title X funding from Nebraska Family Planning (NEFP) to implement sliding fee scale services under Title X at health centers in Lincoln and Omaha, as well as for telehealth services across Nebraska. With this funding, PPNCS joins NEFP’s statewide Title X network of 11 health centers with some 33 sites providing services throughout Nebraska. In 2024, PPNCS also received an additional $846,211 through NEFP’s Sexual and Reproductive Health Initiative. Title X serves as a critical part of the public health safety net, offering family planning and preventive health services on a sliding scale tailored to income and family size for uninsured and underinsured individuals.
“Everyone deserves access to health care, no matter your zip code, age, immigration status, race, ethnicity, gender, disability, or socioeconomic status,” said Ruth Richardson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood North Central States. “This funding will help patients who often face barriers to basic health care access the essential services they need to control their bodies and futures.”
With the addition of Nebraska, PPNCS now operates Title X programs in three states: Iowa, Minnesota, and Nebraska. These funds support direct patient care and comprehensive sex education programming.
PPNCS provides vital health care services for people across the upper Midwest. The wide range of reproductive and sexual health services covered by Title X includes:
- Cervical and breast cancer screenings
- Contraception care,
- Sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing and treatment
- HIV testing, education, and referral
- Pregnancy testing and options counseling
- Fertility awareness education
- Emergency contraception.
