Mifepristone is safe, legal, and available to Planned Parenthood of Northern New England Patients

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – In reaction to today’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the Food and Drug Administration Et Al. v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine Et Al., Planned Parenthood of Northern New England released the following statement:

Statement from Nicole Clegg, Interim CEO of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England:
“The most important thing to know is that medication abortion remains legal in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont  for now.  As the government made clear in this case, mifepristone is safe and effective and has been used in the United States for more than two decades. This case was built on lies about science, but it’s clear the plaintiffs’ real objection was to our autonomy and freedom.

Let's also not forget that this is the same Supreme Court that revoked federal protections for abortion nearly two years ago, and is about to decide another critical abortion case. Our rights are still under attack.

PPNNE will continue to offer all abortion care options to our patients throughout Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.”
