No, California does not have any kind of waiting period requirement. A patient can have an abortion on the same day they consult with a medical provider.
A waiting period for an abortion is a requirement in some states that makes patients wait a certain amount of time (ranging from a few hours to a few days, depending on the state) between their initial consultation with a medical provider about having an abortion and when the procedure can actually be performed.
The length of your appointment will depend on the type of appointment you have:
- Abortion Pill Visit: 2-3 hours (up to 11 weeks into gestation)
- Abortion Procedure Visit:
- 3-4 hours (up to 16 weeks into gestation)
- 4-8 hours (up to 20.6 weeks into gestation)
