For Immediate Release: Sept. 18, 2024 (Updated: Sept. 18, 2024, noon)
Lawrenceville, GA – Next week, Planned Parenthood Southeast is pleased to cohost a Town Hall meeting dedicated to advancing medically accurate and comprehensive sexual health and wellness programming in Gwinnett County Public Schools. The town hall is hosted by the Gwinnett Coalition for Inclusive Sex Education, in partnership with Planned Parenthood Southeast, PFLAG Lawrenceville, EducateUs, Georgia Equality, Mosaic Georgia, and Amplify Georgia Collaborative, and will take place on September 25th, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville, GA.
“We're excited to partner with parents, students, organizations and leaders in Gwinnett County to bring this event to life.” said Jessica Swanson, Director of Education and Outreach at Planned Parenthood Southeast. “There's never been a more pressing time to push for medically accurate and inclusive sex education. Young people deserve access to the information they need to make informed decisions and prioritize their goals and health while navigating our rapidly changing world.”
We are united in our mission to support the adoption of accurate and age-appropriate sexual health education in our schools. By equipping students with the knowledge and tools they need to build healthier relationships with themselves and others, young people are better prepared to understand and maintain their boundaries, have higher self esteem, and make healthier decisions. Everyone deserves access to age appropriate and medically accurate information that empowers them to make healthy decisions.
We’re pleased to invite all community members, parents, students, educators, and anyone else interested to join us in this important conversation. Your participation will help shape the future of sexual health education in Gwinnett County and ensure that it meets the needs of all students.
