On Monday, October 24, 2016, Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) will celebrate the 100^th Anniversary of Planned Parenthood. Sponsorship opportunities and tickets are now available for what will truly be an unforgettable evening.

 

The event will take place at the College Street Music Hall, 238 College Street, New Haven, Connecticut beginning at 5:30 p.m. with a special pre-event reception for sponsors that includes a meet-and-greet with guest speakers.

 

In commemoration of the 100^th Anniversary of Planned Parenthood, this event will reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look ahead to the future. The can’t-miss event will feature guest speakers Dr. David Satcher, former U.S. Surgeon General; Marta Elisa Moret, president of the New Haven-based consulting firm Urban Policy Strategies and Dahlia Lithwick, senior editor of Slate.

For the past century, Planned Parenthood has transformed women’s health and empowered millions of  people worldwide to make informed health decisions. These efforts have transformed the way people live, love, learn and work.

 

Guests will have the unique opportunity to hear three prolific and profound speakers offer fascinating views on the history and current state of reproductive health care. Sponsorship opportunities, which include prominent recognition during the main event as well as premium seating, are available and begin at $1,000.

 

Tickets – which are expected to sell out – can be purchased online and begin at $100 for general audience and $50 for Young Professionals.

 

Dr. Satcher is the second person in history to hold the positions of Surgeon General and Assistant Secretary for Health simultaneously. Serving under the Democratic and Republican parties as the 16^th U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Satcher brought to the office a wealth of public health experience and encouraged debate on topics such as sex education and eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in health care. He is the founding director and senior advisor of The Satcher Health Leadership Institute, at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.

 

Moret is president of Urban Policy Strategies, a New Haven-based consulting firm that conducts research and assessment in public health, and also serves on the board of Women’s Health Research at Yale University. She has previously served as deputy commissioner for the Connecticut Department of Social Services and vice-president for programs at the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

 

Lithwick began her career at a family law firm in Reno, Nevada and joined Slate as an editor and writer in 1999. She writes the “Supreme Court Dispatches” and “Jurisprudence” columns for Slate; is a contributing editor for Newsweek; and is a frequent guest on “The Rachel Maddow Show”. Her work has appeared in The New Republic, The New York Times and The Washington Post.

 

Planned Parenthood has made incredible gains during its first century. Planned Parenthood, once a single brownstone in Brooklyn, N.Y., now has approximately 650 health centers across the country, including 18 in Connecticut and Rhode Island. All proceeds from Cocktails, Conversation and Centennial Celebration will go to care for PPSNE patients who receive high-quality, expert health care, regardless of their ability to pay.
