PPSNE reaffirms commitment to Fairfield County residents with the opening of a new state-of-the-art facility.

On Monday, October 2, 2017 Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) opened its doors on its new state-of-the-art health center in Bridgeport, Conn. PPSNE relocated its Bridgeport health center to 4697 Main Street to better meet the needs of the greater-Bridgeport community. The first Planned Parenthood health center opened in Bridgeport in 1935 and has proudly served the women and families of Fairfield County for more than 80 years.

“We are thrilled to expand our services, community involvement and educational programming in Bridgeport, and provide essential preventive health care to more people than ever before,” said Amanda Skinner, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. “We are excited to grow in Bridgeport and serve the community well into the future. We are here for our patients – no matter what.”

The new Bridgeport health center location will provide a wide range of preventive health care services in a convenient location close to the Merritt Parkway (Route 15) and along public transportation routes. The new state-of-the-art facility offers free and accessible on-site parking. For convenience, online, walk-in and same day appointments are available. PPSNE will continue to extend the same high-quality, affordable reproductive health care it provides to all of its patients in this new location.

“Our expert health care providers ensure thousands of women, men and young people in Bridgeport receive high-quality health care every year,” said Isonia Cole, Bridgeport Health Center Manager. “This center was designed to improve patient experience. We saw our first patients this week and they were overjoyed with the new health center.”

Last year, the PPSNE Bridgeport health center served more than 5,000 patients at its previous health center location, including more than 7,500 visits for contraception and more than 8,000 visits for STI tests. Approximately 61 percent of our patients had low incomes, and more than 25 percent were uninsured.

Planned Parenthood is a trusted, local resource for convenient and confidential services for women, men and young people, including STD/STI testing, HIV prevention, testing and counseling, all FDA approved birth control methods, pregnancy testing and counseling, emergency contraception and more. We offer medical interpretation services for non-English speaking patients; have a sliding fee scale based on one’s income and participate in many insurance plans.

The Bridgeport health center is open daily. The hours are Monday, 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; Thursday 11 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; Friday 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; and Sunday 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
