Amina Wirjosemito, PA, & Monika Mruk, APRN, will provide new primary care services to the community.

Planned Parenthood of Southern New England (PPSNE) recently welcomed

Amina Wirjosemito, Physician Assistant, and Monika Mruk, Nurse Practitioner, to its Hartford health center in order to better meet the needs of the community. The center, located at 1229 Albany Avenue in Hartford, CT, sees more than 4,800 patients annually and is now offering new primary care services to the greater-Hartford community.

These services include the diagnosis and management of chronic conditions such as high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, heartburn, asthma, depression and anxiety, as well as common conditions such as the flu, sinus and ear infections, and strep throat. PPSNE will continue to offer up-to-date expert reproductive health care services for all people including personalized birth control counseling, annual well-woman checkups, pregnancy testing & counseling and STD/STI screening and treatment.

“Our expert providers bring unique skills and special talents that will benefit patients when they come for a visit. Their training, knowledge and compassion in women’s health and primary care services will benefit the greater-Hartford area,” said Kafi Rouse, Vice President of Public Relations & Marketing with Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. “Offering new health care services demonstrates our commitment to providing high-quality care to the women, men and young people in Connecticut. Our patients can see the same medical providers they have come to know and trust for their reproductive health care appointments.”

When patients come in for a reproductive health care visit, they often have other symptoms or illnesses as well. Now, Wirjosemito and Mruk will be able to treat, prescribe and manage a variety of chronic and common conditions that affect thousands in the greater-Hartford area. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 3 adults suffer from hypertension, commonly referred to as high blood pressure; 1 in 6 adults have high cholesterol; and 1 in 11 adults have diabetes.

Wirjosemito earned her master’s degree in Public Health from the Thomas Jefferson School of Public Health and her Master of Science, Physician Assistant Studies degree from Drexel Hahnemann College of Nursing and Health Professions in Philadelphia, Penn. Prior to joining PPSNE, Wirjosemito worked at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Mruk earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Massachusetts, Boston and her Master of Science degree at Regis College in Weston, Mass. Prior to joining PPSNE, Mruk worked as a homecare nurse.
