How Soon Should I Get Tested?

It’s important to get tested as soon as possible if you’ve had unprotected sexual contact, you find out your partner has an STD/STI, or if you think you’ve been exposed to anything.

Testing and Treatment Information

We can test for gonorrhea and chlamydia. If this test shows an infection, then we will provide you with treatment and explain how your partner(s) can be treated.

For testing involving urine samples, including chlamydia and gonorrhea, do not urinate or engage in sexual intercourse for one hour before testing.

Counseling and confidential (private) testing for HIV are provided by trained staff who are sensitive to your needs and concerns.

Insurance information

Some services may be covered by your insurance. If you want to use your insurance, please be sure to have your insurance information at the time of your visit.

If you are uninsured, you may be eligible to receive financial assistance for your procedure. You can confidentially find out if you qualify by calling us at (202) 347-8512.

If you are eligible for financial assistance you may be asked to bring documentation with you to the health center.

There may be additional charges for lab and blood work.

Payment is expected at time of service unless other arrangements have been made.

Walk-in Information

If you need emergency contraception (AKA the morning after pill), you can walk in anytime we’re open.

You are welcome to walk in any time the Health Center is open to make an appointment or see if there is a same day appointment available. If you have the time to wait, we will make every effort to fit you in the same day. If we can’t see you, we will give you the first priority appointment available.
